Thanks for the idea Glenn, but I'm running under Linux
(guess I should have mentioned that) and I can not
find any program or function equivalent to "scrsave".

The other part I didn't mention is that the final
product is a movie made from a series of snapshots,
so I can't use any of the GUI-based screen
snapshot programs. I need to capture dozens of
specific individual frames.

So I'm still searching for a solution.
