Hello pfAll,

well, I do have a - maybe strange w.r.t. performance - question...

During development, I do have a SUN Ray term - which is much less noisy
than any desktop machine -

So I'd like to start up some performer application on this term.
Open GL is installed, and Inventor (ivview ) is running without any
trouble.
So, the question arises, whether I would be able to run Performer.
As I understand the debug information of performer startup phase, it
stops in pfInit
with the following messages:

38524 PF Notice(2): level Internal Debug (7) set by
environment variable PFNFYLEVEL
38524 PF Debug/Resource: pfInitArenas() Allocated 262144KB:
0x64000000 - 0x74000000
38524 PF Debug/Resource: pfDataPool::create() - pid 38524 - 16384
bytes at 0x74000000 succeeded for /usr/tmp/pfClock.38524.pfdpool
38524 PF Debug: Using CYCLECNTR clock (32 bits at
0x4004104(phys 0xaddac100))
38553 PF Debug: Clock is 32 bits with 800.00ns
resolution.
38553 PF Debug: Clock wrap handler runs every 1.00000
seconds.
38524 PF Debug: pfOpenWSConnection - opening shared
display amazonas:3.0=0x1012d040 for pid 38524.
38524 PF Warning/Internal: pfWindow::openNewNoPort() - null visual.
38524 PF This can happen if IRIX has placed
the shared memory area too close to the heap.
38524 PF Try in your shell: setenv
PFSHAREDBASE 0x18000000
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for
operation)
  Major opcode of failed request: 78 (X_CreateColormap)
  Value in failed request: 0x0
  Serial number of failed request: 14
  Current serial number in output stream: 16

Well, I tried several values of PFSHAREDBASE, but this is not the
solution.
Anybody any clue? Help?

Thanks in advance...

... well we are meanwhile inhouse in a discussion about utilizing
performer any further, or migrating to other stuff, so this help would
be appreciated, even for this discussion (Linux&SGI or ?whatsoever? )
