Mike & Antonio,

Accelerated-X is not based on XFree86, it is completely different in
the backend from 2D to OpenGL rendering. We have had to design
significant parts of Accelerated-X to suport stereo. The architecture
of XFree86 does not support stereo, which makes it problematic for
NVidia since they are operating with an XFree86 core.

We would definitely like to support NVidia hardware with all the
features the hardware is capable of, and we get many requests from
their customers asking us for commercial quality OpenGL support so
they can run commercial applications like Performer. It comes down to
what the customers demand from NVidia; Xi Graphics does not have much
of a say there. :-(

Sincerly,
