A couple of things. What hardware are you using? Can you make available
an example program and related texture files for testing on other
systems? Can you put a call to gluErrorString and glGetError into a
pfGeoState callback to help narrow down this problem? This would at
least insure the error message is coming from the pfGeoState which
contains the detail alpha texture. Does both the base texture and the
detail texture contain alpha? If you are on IRIX try ogldebug32 and trap
on OpenGL Error. This way you can find out what the offending OpenGL
command is?
