I would also recommend you to use either X-Window handlers or ( in future as you asked in your previous messages) - Windows handlers

it would take you several hours to change X-Window keyboard/mouse handlers to Windows ones ... while you'd spend
days rushing to find a solution in a way you'd like just now .....to use the first things which come to your mind ...
sorry to say but really while not concider time efforts to have a pure portable solution to time efforts to have
different set of routines for input

What is more efficient ... just my guess - it is more efficient just to have different code to handle input for different platforms ...
