Thanks Tom for your attention.
I solved the prob by installing gdb 5.2 and gcc-3.1

pfGetTime now reports time correctly in my graphical debuggers :-)
it seems that as gcc-3.1 uses new default debug info DWARF2 output format
and gdb5.2 reads it better than previous gdb s

my probs gone ...

Thus my answers on Tom's qustions are ...

Suse 8.0

gcc-3.1 /gdb/5.2 - no porbs ( the probs were on gcc3.04 and gdb-5.1.x( those
which comed with suse 8.0 distro ..)

AthlonXP1600+ 1400 Mhz.

The only thing left ...
gcc-3.1 warns that some Performer libs are linked with libstdc++.so.3
while gcc-3.1 calls libstdc++.so.4

Is it possible to have new rpms for gcc -3.1 for downloads?
