We have a similar situation using a Dell dual P4 Xeon 2.2Ghz. It came with
a stock Quadro II card. Our first attempt to solve the problem was to
remove the Quadro card and install a GeForce 3 card (tried and true).
Machine still locked at "OpenGL Performer" screen.

Next we disabled the second processor in the computer's bios, loaded the
single processor Linux kernel and NVidia drivers. It seems to run fine.

We installed a Wildcat 5110 graphics card with XIGraphics drivers and
re-instated the second processor. Machine still locked at "OpenGL
Performer" screen.

Currently, we are running on a single processor and the machine/Performer
work fine.

This is obviously NOT an optimal solution, but it allows us continue working
until a more permanent fix is found.

Subject: [info-performer] Perfly lockup on Dual PIII 2.2 GHz Processor

I have a machine that is a dual processor PIII 2.2 GHz. It has a Quadro II
Pro graphics card and Red Hat Linux 7.2 Kernel 2.4.7-10smp. I have the
nvidia 2880 driver loaded and the latest Performer 2.5 rpms installed. When
I run "perfly town.perfly" it locks up at the beginning when the "OpenGL
Performer" text is rotating toward the user. If I run perfly with the -m0
and -m2 options it runs fine, but locks up when I run it with -m4 and -m6.
This problem sounds similar to Lawrence's problem, but a little different. I
don't see any menus on the left or any graphics at all. Could this be
caused by the pfGetTime in 2.5?

Thanks,
Jeff
