Hello Performers,

First, welcome back from ITEC to those who went, it was great to see so
many of you at the show!

Some administrative news:

A few upgrades to the info-performer mailing list have just gone into
place. First thing you'll notice is the [info-performer] tag in the
subject line of all messages.

Second is ever more powerful spam filtering. We've been tuning this new
mechanism for a couple weeks now and it looks really good. It caught
those 7 or 8 messages in the past few days that managed to slip through
the previous filtering. info-performer receives anywhere from 50 to 100
SPAM messages every day, so the filtering was already pretty good, but
now it'll be better. The only problem with the new stuff is the (very)
occasional false positive, and we'll continue to examine those to figure
out what exceptions to make. But, any message that comes in with
[info-performer] already on the subject line passes through unscathed. :-)

One reminder, it's a bad idea to reply to a spammer or click their
"remove me" link. It's how they collect addresses known to be "good".

Last, we're working on getting the archives back online. The archive
site had some problems and is currently running a backup from last
November. We have an internal mirror of the archives, so nothing has
been lost, just need to get the server back on its feet before copying
the mirror files out. More on this once there's news.

Allan
