Hi,

I've done something similar but in my case I just wanted a movie to
appear ON TOP of my scene during loading or on request so it's purely
2D. For that I used the SGI movie library (man mvIntro) on IRIX. I
create an X window ontop of my Performer window and render the movie
into that. It doesn't use any OpenGL or texture memory resources.
Control is fairly simple with key strokes to stop, start, rewind, mute
etc.

If you movie needs to be in the 3D scene then I think you can best use
textures, maybe using the subload function.

Hope it helps, Simon
