someone else correct me if i'm wrong, but it sounds like maybe you're
hitting the max number of open file discriptors the kernel will allow. by
default, i think it's 200. and if i remember right, it's a systune-able
parameter. you'll wanna do a: man systune
and checkout the /var/sysgen/stune and /var/sysgen/mtune/* files.
