i suspect the exception problem may be along the same lines as the dynamic
cast problem and 'having to compile c++ programs optimized' problem. i've
been working on those problems for the past couple weeks now and i think
i'm making progress.

if you have a small sample which reproduces the problem, then i can check
to see if this problem gets fixed as well. thanks in advance...
