hi,

with linux (i run Debian) you have a tool 'convert', which is part of the
imagemagick package, that allows you to convert almost every file format
into another format. So for instance, you could convert a .jpg to a .sgi
or a .rgb or .rgba or whatever.

it works perfectly !
