Hello Etienne,

Our pre-release benchmarking showed 2.5 faster than 2.4, so there's
probably something basic going on.

Do you have an accelerated or unaccelerated OpenGL driver, e.g. Mesa?
I could imagine a hit if you are not running accelerated -- but otherwise
(with e.g. nvidia drivers) we saw no difference, logo vs no logo.

Another (more vague I know) possibility is that 2.5 is detecting
a capability in your driver and activating a feature that puts you on
a software path. This isn't particularly likely but for example
do you see anti-aliasing or some other image-quality improvement
being active that wasn't with 2.4?

It does all come back to, which OpenGL driver & gfx card?

I'll have to defer to the experts here for more suggestions.
