The loader for Performer does not support environmental textures.

But you can install a loader call back to look for the nodes and apply
them. I use the Special 1 property on an object node or group node
to indicate what should be environmentally mapped.

You can find code to do this on the MPI Vega forum, do a search.
The code is Performer based

Subject: Environmental texturing with MultiGen Creator

Hello-

I am trying to view OpenFlight models created with MultiGen Creator, and I am having trouble with environmental textures. I can apply environmental textures in Creator, but they do not appear correctly in Performer. Does anyone know if the MultiGen Performer loader supports this feature? If it does, what do I need to do to get it to work?

I have tested this with the MultiGen Performer loader version R15.4g and with models made in Creator version 2.3, 2.4, 2.4.1, and 2.5. It appears that the texture is applied to the surfaces, but it does not change as the view changes (as an environmental map should).

Any help that anyone can give me would be highly appreciated. Currently I am converting any reflective geometry to OpenInventor format, applying environmental textures "by hand" in the code, and loading the geometry separate from my OpenFlight model. There has to be a better way.

Many thanks in advance,
-Jeremy
