Hey Mike, I haven't used the converter you spoke about, but if you have a
linux system on your network you can use a piece of code I wrote a while ago
which has been quite useful to me. Refer to:

The linux joystick driver documentation states that it supports the "Microsoft
SideWinder Precision Pro USB" - is that the same as yours?
