You may want to look at our VR Juggler system, www.vrjuggler.org. It is an
Open Source VR development environment compatible with many graphcis APIs, VR
devices and operating systems. It may be a good tool for your class because
the students will have access to the source code. They may do projects
enhancing the core, adding extensions, managers or other components. I use it
in my VR courses and it is great for the students. They can play deep down in
building low-level components and see the result within the semester's time,
since the VR engine is already in place through the VR Juggler Kernel.
