In Irix, we have a Perl script that invokes dmconvert on a set of numbered frames. Of course, we also had to add (to our Perf app) the capability of dumping each frame to an rgb file, but that's not hard either.
dmconvert is part of the Digital Media package and is found in dmedia_eoe.sw.base
