Hello,

I'm working on a linux system (kernel 2.4.10) with 1.5GB RAM.
I can't allocate 1G (or more) for the shared arena.
setenv PFSHAREDSIZE 900000000 works
setenv PFSHAREDSIZE 1500000000 does not work

The error message :
>
>PF Warning/Internal: perror: Success
>PF Warning/SysErr: Could not mmap file
/demos/pfutil16653.pfdpool for arena of size 164912
>PF Warning/SysErr: pfDataPool::create() by pid 16653 could not
make arena /demos/pfutil16653.pfdpool of size 131072
>PF Fatal/Resource: pfuInit(): could not make pfUtil Data Pool!

The limits seem to be ok (I can allocate all the memory I need) :
>limit
>cputime unlimited
>filesize unlimited
>datasize unlimited
>stacksize 8192 kbytes
>coredumpsize 0 kbytes
>memoryuse unlimited
>descriptors 1024
>memorylocked unlimited
>maxproc 12287
>openfiles 1024

I've found the script posted by Ran Yakir but it is for IRIX system.

Has someone translate the script for Linux ?
Should I change some of the system limits ? Is there a specific performer
variable to set ?
Any other idea, solution ?

Thanks a lot,
Johan.
