When the system starts and the SGI logo appears there is a key sequence
(shift-F2 or shift-F12 or similar, can't remember but it appears on the
screen, be quick) to enter into the system setup configuration.
When you are there there is a menu that allows to select booth device and
search
sequence. Change the first booth device from the floppy (or HD whatever is
on your system) to the IDE CDROM Drive. Save into prom and reboot.
When the system starts now, it will look first into the CDROM for a bootable
image.
