it is likely that any OpenGL app will fail to get a visual on that system.
do an ldd perfly to see what libraries it is picking up and verify those
are the libraries you intend for it to pick up. also verify that
libglx.so in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/ is pointing to the right
library. you can also check xdpyfino | grep GLX and see that it reports:
GLX
NV-GLX
NVIDIA-GLX
and you can take a look at your /var/log/XFree86.0.log and see if GLX is
failing to get initialized.
(it'd probably be a good idea for me to change that error message under
linux, it seems to throw a lot of people off)
Also, if you have an smp system, I would recommend using an earlier
version of the NVidia driver...perhaps 1251 rather than 1512. I've had
various problems with the 1512 driver on my system.
