PFSHAREDBASE and arena size

Hi,
we are attempting to port to Linux but are running into problems when
loading large and/or numerous .iv files. In Irix, we used PFSHAREDBASE =
0x18000000 with a call to pfSharedArenaSize in the code. This doesn't seem
to work in Linux. Has anyone experienced this and is there a fix?
