I suspect it may have something to do with the utah glx drivers as I have
not experienced the problem using nvidia cards & drivers. When I first saw
the problem, I thought "OK, I can't set the screen clear mode from the menu,
I can set it using the command line". To my surprise, there is the menu. I
was playing with perfly on my laptop because of curiosity more than anything
else since my machine has a 4mb rage mobility. I am hoping Dell will
introduce the geforce 2 go into their "mid-range" or "budget" line of dell
laptops soon. In the meantime, I will have to stick with desktop boxes.
