Hi Simon,
This sounds like the "Scribe" style of drawing from perfly but you probably
want it for part of the scene. Have you looked at style.c in the pfutil
source code? Maybe you could wrap the appropriate parts of
pfuPreDrawStyle(PFUSTYLE_SCRIBED) and pfuPostDrawStyle() as node traversal
callbacks around your geometry or something.
