pfTexture and texture compression

Hi,
Does anybody have already successfully used texture compression (S3TC,
DXTC) in Performer on Linux (GeForce2 GTS)? Setting the internal format
of a pfTexture to a compressed format works but shows poor performance
when paging texture from system to texture memory because each time
compression is performed.
