Brian,

        Then what is the purpose of the ulocks.h file under Linux? Is there
some part of the header that is usable by the application programmer? Just
wondering.

You have answered your own question. IRIX's libc barrier implementation
is specific to IRIX use pfuBarrier under Linux.
