Well, everyone else has given the IRIX answer (video format compiler:
http://www.sgi.com/software/vfc/), I'll give the linux one:
You just need to create a modeline for the resolution you want and put
that in your XF86Config. I don't have a modeline for 1280x768 handy
(perhaps someone else does?). Here's a pointer to the HOWTO on how to
calculate your own modeline:
