With regard to changing video formats on InfiniteReality systems,
ircombine is probably the tool you're interested in.

If you want to be able to output SMPTE 292M high-definition video from
an InfiniteReality graphics system, you might consider SGI's new HD-GVO
(high-definition graphics-to-video out):

HD-GVO supports 720p, 1035i, 1080i, and 1080p (in addition to the
standard-definition 480i and 576i formats).
