Performer seg faulting under linux (resend)

This did not seem to resonate with anyone last week. At the risk of
annoyance I am resending this. Any takers?

Under RedHat 7.1 and using the latest Performer, Xfree86 (4.1.0) and
Mesa (3.4.2),
I get the following when running perfly cow.obj:
 
PF
PF Warning: Overlay windows not supported in Linux
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I searched the archives and found similar questions answered before. One
previous suggestion was to use the latest Mesa libs, I am. I also tested
and can run (accelerated) OpenGl demos just fine on this machine (a Dell
Inspiron 8000 laptop). Any current thoughts on this problem?
