How to simulate the headlight?

Hello,Performers:

Does anybody know how to simulate the headlight?
I'v downloaded an example of projected texturing posted by Marcin in 2000.The example simulate the headlight effect.But in the example, the transparent object are ignored and the example can't simulate the difference between p.m.8:00 and p.m.11:00.
Could you please help me with this problem ?
