In the terms we normally use we call this two 'channels' not pipes.

Tom has looked at multipipe (i.e. multiple graphics cards) with NVIDIA
and it turns out that the drivers didn't support it when last he
checked. I think the DRI infrastructure may with other cards (that was
one of it's design objectives) but NVIDIA stuff can't do multiple 3D
pipes, although you can get multiple X servers running.

Performer can't do multipipe on Linux yet either, but I expect it'll be
added in time to take advantage of the capability as it arrives.
