Thanks, yea it was the XF86Config file set to 8 bit color. OpenGL driver does not work with 8 bit color. Thanks a bunch, was about to tear apart the hardware =)

This is the real error. Appearantly, you can't get an OpenGL visual.
What happens when you run glxinfo? Can you run other OpenGL apps? (like
some of the screensavers? for example:
/usr/X11R6/lib/xscreensaver/sproingies )

This would likely be the problem if you were running on IRIX. Since
you're getting this on Linux, I suspect that OpenGL just isn't installed
corectly on your system.
