Hi Bill:
I can't tell you what the problem is with the VRML 1 to 2 conversion. Here is a copy of what I sent previously on this subject, but I'm not sure if it will help you. Sounds like for #1, there is a problem getting the VRML 1 files into Performer so the other options may work.
You have a couple options to get Lightscape files into Performer:
1. Use the ls2vrml program that ships with Lightscape or
2. Use the FileSDK information on the Lightscape 3.2 CD (shipping as of last
week) or
3. Use our translator plug-ins in conjunction with 3DS MAX to get access to
the Lightscape data. This is similar to the FileSDK approach, but may be
more comfortable if you used to MAX programming.
The ls2vrml may be easiest, but will only give you access to RGB per-vertex
information, but combined with Lightscape's built-in mesh-to-texture data
reduction capability, this may not be a problem.
The file SDK is only available with Windows/Intel libraries so you would
need to write a converter that would run on a PC. The advantage of the SDK
is that it gives you full access to the physical energy values in the
radiosity mesh that you can manipulate as needed.
For more information, you can go to http://www.lightscape.com or the
Lightscape user forum at http://support.discreet.com/~lightscape. (I am told
that the user forum web server will be down tomorrow most of the day for
maintenance.)
In addition, the Tech Support section of the Lightscape site has some great
information on real-time data preparation with Lightscape:

I'm not a subscriber to the Performer mail lists so please email me directly
if you need more information.

Subject: Lightscape
Hi all,
I'm attempting to view my Lightscape 3.2 solution files in Performer.
I've seen that there's already been a small discussion a few years ago
but it hasn't seemed to help. As far as I can tell I need to export to
VRML 1.0 then convert it to 2.0, I'm using vrml1tovrml2.exe that comes
with CosmoPlayer. However when I attempt to load the file in Performer
I get a few errors:
Prompt: Unknown node type PixelTexture near line 33243, correct one?
and
PF Notice/Usage: OpenGL Error 0x501 - invalid value
I get those quite a few times and absoultly no model when Performer
loads. Any thoughts on how to fix them or maybe a different way to go
from Lightscape to Performer?
Thanks,
Bill Haubert
