You can install the performer source code for the loader from the performer
distribution ( I don't think it installs by default ). If you look at
pfobj.c you can have a look at how it works.
Also there is an example in the /usr/share/Performer/data of a shiny
material which you can look at which uses refelction mapping. This material
is used by the /usr/share/Performer/data/shinycow.obj .
from looking at the source code the identifier for the opacity is Tr ( this
is actual transparency so 1.0 is completely transparent ). There is no
emissive component so you will have to use ambient ( Ka ) or modify the
source code yourself to include emissive.

I am looking for a Wavefront MTL file format specification, but can only
find Wavefront OBJ formats specifications. Can somebody please help? In
