I've been trying to get Performer running under the latest version of
Debian and have been getting the following error when I try to run
perfly:
./perfly: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libpf.so.1:
undefined symbol: stat
After doing a search on the archives of the performer mailing list I
came across this thread:
http://reality.sgi.com/performer/perf-01-03/0102.html
But the solution found is not really a solution so much as a kludge to
get it running that one time. The assumption made was that this was a
debian problem and not a problem with performer.
So I went looking in the debian bug tracker for information about this
problem and came across the following bug report:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=92209&repeatmerged=yes
Which basically ends up by pointing the problem back to "Performer isn't
compiled correctly" and what needs to be done. (another suggestion is
that the compiler has to be upgraded, but that's not the problem since
I'm using an even newer version than mentioned in the bug report).
So I guess what really comes out of this whole long thing is: how would
I go about getting a new version of Performer for Linux compiled and
release so it would work with debian again? or at the very least making
sure that this change makes it into the next version of performer for
linux.
