Hello,
This is in the hope that some influencial people at SGI pick up on this.
Last year, I've been trying to get SGI to authorize me in distributing
my Python binding for Performer.
Despite me talking to the product manager Kimmberley Neff at siggraph,
SGI never followed up on this.
So, I would like to plea: please reconsider authorizing the distribution
of this binding, it holds only advantages for SGI, no disadvantages.
The binding requires an installed version of SGI-supplied OpenGL|Performer,
and the availability of the binding is of no help for a competitor trying
to implement his own version of the Performer API.
Frequently, people ask me to share this binding, but the copyright messages
in the pf headerfiles explicitly inhibit redistribution of derived work.
(The binding is clearly derived, as it needs to offer the same API as the C++
headers).
