Don't know much about the flight API, but you could associate the
material with a bead with a name in MultiGen and then look for that name
on the pfNode of a graph then get the material from the pfNode's
geostate. Then if you edit the material you should modify the same
material throughout the entire scene. A problem could arises if the
material matches another and the state might be shared by the
optimizations applied to the graph by the loader. This would broaden the
scope of your edits.
