With performer 2.4, libpr.so was merged with libpf.so as it is on IRIX.
So, libpr.so should not exist, only libpf.so.

untar the performer_demos tar file as well...that contains perfly...

I'm guessing (hoping) you're running with the perfly from Performer 2.3?
if you haven't already, try untarring the performer_demos tar file and
using the perfly from there. that one shouldn't have a dependency on
libpr.so.
