The key difference was that in my the slow version, I had done the pfdMakeSharedScene before
the first pfFrame (which opens the PWin), and the fast version it is done after.

I have two programs, a prototype and my baseline system. I noticed that I didn't seem to be getting the
performance I expected from the full system, so I've variously disconnected/commented out, etc pretty
much everything outside of drawing the background scene. It is functionally equivalent to the prototype.
I cannot see any differences in setting up the window, channel, load the data files, set up geometry, etc.
Nevertheless, the prototype draws frames in 10ms, the system in 68ms. Several tests show me the time
is in the draw phase, not in any app phase stuff. Using FrameStats, Performer says it is drawing identical
numbers of polygons, textures, etc. the statistics are identical, except the the draw phase is 10ms in one
and 68ms in the other. I am baffled.
Any clues on what could cause such a disparity, and how I can track this down would be appreciated.
I am running RH 6.2, Nvidia Ultra 64mb, 0.96 nv drivers, Performer 2.4
