Just open two channels with viewports above and below.
It's a lot sompler than quadbuffer in some respects because you don't
have to ask for a stereo visual and set the draw buffer to left and
right, you just draw top and bottom channels each corresponding to an
eye, in the backbuffer then swap. Any visual will do.
