I recently upgraded to IRIX 6.5.10 and Performer 2.4, and have begun to
notice performer applications hanging quite regularly. Perfly comes up
and displays the 3d text for about 2 or three frames (not even long
enough to do the little zoom effect). Anyway, it just sets there, theres
no unusual disk I/O and the process load looks normal. I ran the
irsaudit tools on all of my pipes (2-IR3s in one module and 1-IR2 in the
other) and all of them failed. Pipe 0 (IR3) failed with an error during
the rmcrctri test.
INFO RM1 IMP1 has 1 CRC miscompares
Pipe 1 (IR3) and Pipe 2 (IR2) both failed with the same error during the
video test (with about 78 errors per dg channel). Normally I would
chalk this up to a hardware error alone, but here's the weird part(aside
from all 3 failing at once): I have a second boot disk for my machine,
with IRIX 6.5.10 and Performer 2.2, Pipes 1 and 2 both fail as before,
however pipe 0 passes. The only real difference between my two
bootdisks is that one is Perf 2.4 and one is 2.2. I don't see how
performer could cause an IRSaudit failure. I thought that maybe
performer 2.4 was leaving the graphics board in some unknown state, so I
tried running IRSaudit just after a clean boot and got the same
results. I do have my SGI rep working on this, but since Performer
appears to be a variable in this, I thought I ask the list. Anyone out
there experience this problem before? I have the full IRSaudit logs if
anybody wants to examine them. Any help is greatly appreciated.
