Greetings,

A similar question was posted last Friday. Here was my reply:

SGI currently supports Redhat 6.2 + ProPack1.3-VWE on our 230, 330, 550
machines.

It's a lot easier to install ProPack1.3-VWE. A simple ./INSTALL and it
installs everything for you (proper OpenGL libraries, headers, man pages,
as well as Performer, sound drivers, etc.). You can order ProPack1.3-VWE
from SGI (part #91-AD155-001, costs $55 US). If you order a
230L/330L/550L, it will come pre-installed for you. If you buy a no-OS
230/330/550, you need to install an OS and drivers yourself.

hope that helps,
tom
