Is there a way to setmon across a network interface?

Is there any method for getting setmon to work across a network
interface?

My performer program is running on a terminal ("A") that is rlogin'd
into an Octane ("B"). The GUI interface is displayed on "A" and the
performer graphics are displayed on "B". Currently, I have to run
setmon from "B" before I start the program on "A". Ideally, I'd like to
tell "B" to change its display to stereo (STR_BOT) from within my
performer program.
