Hi Alexander,
I currently have an ATI Rage PRO based laptop from ASL (www.aslab.com) and
slapped on XFree86-3.3.6 with the Utah-GLX drivers
(utah-glx.sourceforge.net). The drivers aren't very complete (and in some
cases broken), but performance is pretty decent (I get something like
10-20Hz with perfly town.perfly at 1024x768x16). So, Performer should
work on there and you should be able to get work done on that kind of
machine so long as you don't expect everything to always render correctly
:-)
I haven't looked to see if they're out yet, but a Geforce2Go based laptop
would be really cool :). I imagine performance would be much better plus
the NVidia driver is very complete and should render everything correctly.
hope that helps,
tom
