Going into Performer?
Can you output them into DXF instead?
Depending on the IGES version, it may be somewhat convoluted.

What CAD system are these files from ?
(Some Anonymously Named SGI guy once wrote a Catia to csb / inventor
converter which makes it easy to get into pfb format. I think his friends
call him "Al")
