Yes. 2.4 is a major release. By definition, we can break binary
compatability in major releases.
But, we are pretty careful not to change APIs unless it is
absolutely necessary so all
your porting effort involves not much more than a recompilation.

2.4 supports OpenGL only. Yes, folks, it is time to say goodbye to
IRISGL :) (If you really can not live without IRISGL,
2.2.x is still shipped with future IRIX releases.)
Therefore, in 2.4, we have gotten rid off the _igl and _ogl
distinction.
