So do you have to run Linux to get this? I checked on my IRIX 6.5.9m installation
and there is no such pfLOD::setUserEvalFunc on my man pages (which are pf 2.2.x).

I know you guys at SGI are going to stop supporting IRIX at some point, but please not yet.

First, if you just want to pick a single child for drawing, why not use a
pfSwitch node ?

If you want to blend between children of a pfLOD, you can use the new pfLOD
user evaluation function (available since pf2.3).
Take a look at the man page for pfLOD::setUserEvalFunc for more details.
