perfly problems

Greetings all!

I recently installed Performer 2.3.1 (along with the demos and data)
on my RedHat 6.2 box. I wanted to give perfly a try and found out
that .iv and .wrl files refuse to be displayed. All other demo files
load, but without textures. My shinycow.obj isn't shiny :(

I'd be grateful for any advise.
