environment cube

Greets,

Does anyone know of any way of creating an environment cube, say a 6 sided
image, edge blended to represent a sphere that can be added to a scene as an
environmental surround. Perhaps as part of a channel? If Performer
automatically supports this, then I simply haven't been looking in the right
places for it.
