Hi

Your first problem would be that Performer does not
read bitmaps I presume you mean .bmp, Performer only
reads in SGI image formats RGB, RGBA, INT, INTA

You could also try going through a different
database format, e.g. Openflight the most common used
database format for Performer. There are quite a few
converters that will go from lightwave to Openflight,

Polytrans is a reasonable on from www.okino.com

Subject: Geometry and textures

I'm sorry to ask such a basic question, but I'm having a difficult time
finding the basic information I need. [Even the performer guides seem to
change topics, just when they're getting into the information I'm looking
for].

If I create some geometry in a modeling application (such as ligthwave) and
convert it .lwo->.3ds->.iv so that Performer is able to load it reliably,
should it retain what material textures I create for it in lightwave? My
objects have been retaining the basic material properties that I create for
them, but the bitmap images associtate with the textures are not coming
through.

I've been trying to find some code (pftexture etc) to re-create the
materials for my objects but have had little luck finding a refernce that is
basic enough, and comprehensive enough to be useful.
