Using performer with an OpenGL widget in X

The pf manuals seem to indicate that it is possible to attach a performer
window to an externally ( non pf ) generated opengl widget.

Has anyone done this, or is there any example code available for this.

I've looked in the /usr/share stuff and there does not seem to be any.

Any help would be appreciated.
